Autumn Husky Kennel Visit with Cart Ride through Taiga Forest

After being picked up, your guide will drive you to a very lovely husky kennel located approximately a 30-minute drive away from Rovaniemi and crossing the Arctic Circle. You may have a chance to enjoy all the beautiful autumn colours of Rovaniemi. The leaves on the trees turn to the most indescribable shades of gold, orange and red before they will be covered up by layers upon layers of snow and ice. In Finland, we call this transitional period into the long winter ahead “Ruska”.

Fantastic husky experience in the heart of Arctic nature

At the kennel, you will be welcomed by the mushers and the excited barking of their lovely dogs. All the dogs are very photo enthusiasts, so do not forget to bring your camera with you! You will be introduced to your dog team and given safety instructions and some tips on how to drive the cart. Then we will start a 3.5-kilometres-long drive through the peaceful Taiga forest. You are always 2 adults maximum for the cart ride (one driver, and one passenger sitting in the cart), and you will have the possibility to switch the driver and passenger halfway.

After the safari, the mushers will take time to share their lifestyle, explain to you what the job of a musher consists of, how they train their dogs and answer all your questions around an open fire with hot beverages and biscuits served.

On all our excursions, our groups are limited to 8 people maximum, however, at the kennel there can be other customers. It is very important for us to provide you with the best experience possible, and avoid mass tourism. This way, your guide will know you better and will be able to address all your needs and answer your questions.
