Description

Polar Explorer Icebreaker offers a 3-hour long cruise in the frozen water of the Bothnian Sea in Lapland. During the 3 hours you will witness the massive ice-breaking power of the vessel, and have a guided tour all the way down to the engine rooms and all way up to Captain’s bridge. Tour is available in 16 languages via an audio guide application and includes an 11-minute long movie in the icebreaker cinema about icebreakers all over the world.

You can relax in the cozy saloon, enjoy warm juice or go for walk on the frozen sea ice during the stop. The icebreaker makes a pool free of ice and every visitor can take a swim in the dark icy water in a flotation survival suit. The captain will present Cruise & Swim Certificate to everyone as a memorable gift.

Event Icebreaker Cruises

Our partners have introduced a new concept featuring different thematic cruises throughout the season. Morning Cruises usually start at 10:00 or 11:00 and always take place during daylight, as days at the Arctic Circle are very short in winter.

In the afternoon, you can enjoy the Daytime Cruise, featuring the greatest hits of the legendary Swedish pop group ABBA. The afternoon cruise usually begins at 14:00, and transportation from Rovaniemi is available via the Icebreaker Shuttle Bus.

Please note that Icebreaker Shuttle Bus leaves from Rovaniemi approximately 3 hours before starting time.
