With our reindeer guides you’ll meet the animals up close, gain insights into reindeer herding and the rhythm of the reindeer year, and experience the calm beauty of Lapland’s forest, right by the flowing Kemijoki river.

What to expect year-round

• Time at the reindeer fence to meet the reindeer and observe their behaviour, and feed the reindeer
• Learning from our reindeer guides about reindeer herding, animal care, and local traditions
• Immersing yourself in the natural surroundings of Taava Reindeer Farm: peaceful Lappish forest
• A relaxing break inside our log kota with traditional Finnish “karjalanpiirakka”, warm glögi and gingerbread cookies

Seasonal highlights

• Winter (Dec–April): A reindeer sleigh ride (approx. 500 m) through the snowy forest. The snow and unique Arctic light make the reindeer farm atmosphere especially memorable.
• Spring, Summer & Autumn (May–Oct): You may take part in easy, light reindeer farm task that reflect the season’s work. The farm is surrounded by green forest or autumn colors, and you can observe the natural rhythm of reindeer life — for example reindeer calves being born, growing antlers and preparations for the coming winter.

Taava is open in every season, giving you the chance to understand reindeer, meet the people who care for them, and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere of Lapland’s nature.
