30 Ocotber 2020: Wonderful viewspot!

The night sky was predicted crystal clear. That should be already a good enough reason to jump out and chase the northern lights but that was not the only one. The solar activity forecast also showed some optimism : a KP level 2 was expected, this is enough for Rovaniemi latitude!

Based on our analyses of the weather charts and forecast apps, we opted for one of our favourite locations. This is a hilltop where we have our own teepee (perfect to keep us warm during cold nights!) with a spectacular 220 degree open view to the north and no light pollution! From there, you cannot miss the Northern Lights if they appear!

And guess what? The show was splendid! The auroras came, danced, moved towards east, faded out, came back stronger, sparkled, faded out again, new lights cane from north, and danced again…

We literally played with the lights!

The Northern light show seemed to never end. We could take many pictures, captured the beauty of the sky from different places. The auroras were so abundant and generous that we could play with them like children.

The moon also helped us a lot to take great photos as it enlighted our surroundings. The conditions were really optimal for wilderness photo shooting.

What a formidable night!
