What’s the best thing to do if you love adventure? Of course: Go for a frozen waterfalls hike in the amazing nature of Lapland!

We organize guided trips to the Korouoma Canyon and just did two trips there.

It is a fairly long drive from Rovaniemi but we entertained our guests with interesting facts and stories about Rovaniemi and Lapland. And if you are lucky, like we were on our second trip, you can even see some reindeer walking on the streets.

However, the Korouoma Canyon is really worth the drive. We hiked through an amazing winter wonderland and really felt like we’ve stepped straight into a fairytale.

On our way we explained more about the history of logging and the surrounding nature to our guests. Did you for example know that there are 7 different ways to use the birch? Impressive, right?

As we continued we had a lot of fun sliding down the more steeper parts of the trail. Shortly after we reached the bottom of Korouoma Canyon, we were able to see the stunning frozen waterfalls. They always look different and make the scenery breathtaking.

Those ice formations are well known for ice climbing, so on both days we were able to watch some people climbing the biggest frozen waterfall in the Canyon – the Brown River.

Too soon we reached our campfire location, we just couldn’t get enough of the landscape and peaceful nature. But by now we were all ready for a warm drink and a typical finish barbecue snack. Then it was just a short but definitely steep uphill hike back to our car.

We had two amazing days full of adventure and experiences that we always like to share with our customers. We just can’t wait to go back and see how the frozen waterfalls changed over time!
