On the 28th of February, the aurora forecast did not give us much hope to see strong polar lights that evening. The weather forecast, on the other hand, was showing us a clear sky at night, which is usually the most essential factor, besides solar activity, for seeing the polar lights. Clear sky is important because you can not see anything with a cloudy sky, which also sometimes happens here in Finnish Lapland. So, despite not the best aurora forecast for the evening, the very clear sky still gave us hope to still see a good light show later. Therefore, we promised our guests our best for finding a place where they could see the lights in the evening.
We started our tour in the evening, approximately 19.00, to have a better chance of seeing the polar lights. Fortunately, we got very lucky because Northern Lights did not take a lot of time to appear this evening – our guides only had to drive around a little bit and they already found them! Beautiful, gracious and bright – playing in the sky! Every one of our guests was fascinated and had a lovely evening while watching this spectacular light show and letting the guides take photos from themselves, while bright colors playing on the background.
